Bio

Ruth Uglow is a contemporary artist working in drawing and print.

Uglow’s work considers the mechanisms within nature. The details within forms like a germinating seed pod, the emergence of life, the entanglement and envelopment of growth allows her to transform the mechanics of nature through drawing into print. Uglow aims to capture a happening within the work, a sense of the animated. Of her work she says, ‘I’m interested in my prints creating an expectation of reverberation of sound or engaging with the physical through the object in space, so the viewer immerses themselves within the print.’

Uglow graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2000 and is a member of the, Contemporary Arts Society and Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers. She lives and makes work at Littleton Studios in North Devon.
